Chemical companies have spent the past decade battling a glut of new chemicals that are rapidly being added to the market, with many facing supply shortages and high prices.
The chemicals in question are among the most commonly used in the manufacturing of household products, such as soap, detergent and cleaning products.
They are among a number of chemicals that have been found to be problematic by independent scientists.
“The use of new toxic chemicals has become a major issue, as it is often associated with major safety risks, such a lack of environmental controls and widespread contamination of the environment,” says John O’Donoghue, professor of toxicology at the University of Exeter in the UK and a former chief executive of the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
While most chemicals found in the environment are safe, new chemical compounds often pose a greater risk to human health than previously thought.
“We need to be very cautious about using chemicals that we already know pose a threat to our health,” says Dr O’Dowd.

It is also known to cause cancer and is known to be linked to other illnesses including obesity, depression, asthma and diabetes.
According to a recent report, the UK is home to around 30,000 tons of nitrous oxides per year.
The UK’s largest chemical manufacturer, Dow Chemical, was fined for the second time this year for violating a European Union ban on the sale of nitrates, a chemical used to make fertiliser and pesticides.
“Dow Chemical is aware of the recent use of nitrate by UK consumers and is aware that its use in this way is potentially causing adverse health effects and is currently working to identify and remove any trace of the product from its supply chain,” a spokesperson for Dow Chemical told TechRadars website.

Chemicals are used for making fertiliser, pesticides, and pesticides are often mixed into household products and used to control weeds and other pests.
There is a risk that chemicals that contain nitrate could be used to boost the yield of crops and crops that are not yet grown will be less productive.

In the UK, a report released last month found that the use of a number chemicals was a risk to the environment, and a further study found that some of these chemicals could cause cancer.
The latest research was published in the British Medical Journal, and was funded by the UK Environment Agency.
“Chemicals that are used to produce new chemicals are often more toxic than the chemicals that they are replacing,” says Andrew Hogg, chief executive officer at the Association of Chemical Manufacturers, which represents the chemical industries.
“Many of these new chemicals can also be more harmful than their old counterparts.”
One way to minimise the risks is to use a process called “hybridisation” that combines chemical ingredients that have previously been used together, to create a new product that can be used for many years.
“I think it’s a safe process, and I think that there are good ways to go about it,” Dr O’,Dow says.
“If you use the process properly, you can use chemicals that were previously used together.”
But, I think we need to have a very careful approach and I don’t think the current situation has been good enough.
“There’s a lot of concern and I’m not aware of any way that we can make the situation better.”
Hopefully, this report will show that this is a safe and ethical way to go.
