Industrial chemical industry in Texas is being shut down for more, several months, after state regulators found it to be manufacturing an industrial drug that is dangerous to humans.
State health officials say they found a batch of chlorpyrifos, a common chemical used in cleaning products, in a storage facility near the Houston airport.
They say it was manufactured by a company that is part of the same group of companies that manufacture pesticides and fungicides.
Chlorpyrefosilone, which is made by Dow Chemical, is a common pesticide that is used in the cleaning products industry, but is found in other industries as well.
A spokesman for Dow Chemical told News24 that the company is investigating the case and is notifying affected employees.
